Introduction to Tuna

Tuna is an AI inference provider. We serve open-weight AI models and make them accessible to anyone who wants to use them. Our focus is on Ultrafast inference, which is 5-10x the speed at 6x the cost compared to the competition on OpenRouter. This is a premium product that shines on use cases where the extremely fast and accurate AI is needed.

What's Special About Tuna?

  • Quality-first commitment. Many optimization techniques make AI dumber. Tuna's optimizations preserve intelligence while improving speed. Tuna doesn't quantize models to lower precision.
  • Ultrafast, powered by Bluefin. Bluefin is a self-improving autoresearch AI system that maximizes per-user speed. Tuna pairs it with traditional engineering to speed up the entire stack.
  • Heterogeneous compute. Bluefin operates on diverse accelerators, so Tuna can pair models with the fastest hardware. Tuna is building a heterogeneous cloud to further increase speeds.
  • US routing & ZDR. Everyone should have the freedom to access powerful AI. All requests are processed in the United States. Zero data retention is the default for all users.

How Tuna Works

Tuna serves inference through an API. Tuna hosts and runs the models, and your code sends requests to the API with an API key and the ID of a model. Each request is charged per token, at the rates of the model you called, from your organization's balance of prepaid credits. See Billing.

Tuna is self-serve. Create an organization, add prepaid credit, create a project with an API key inside it, and start sending requests. Pay-as-you-go and self-serve Team organizations cost $0/month. Both include Ultrafast inference, Zero Data Retention (ZDR), US regional routing, dynamic rate limits, and budgets and spend control. A pay-as-you-go organization can expand to a Team at any time, add up to 20 seats, and use per-model whitelisting. Companies that need invoicing options, SSO/SAML, higher rate limits, or custom agreements can contact us about an enterprise plan.

New users can get a $10 promotional credit after entering valid billing details and a valid payment method. No purchase is required. You will not be charged unless you choose to purchase credits or enable automatic top-ups yourself. Tuna has systems to limit one signup bonus per user. The promotional credit amount is subject to change any time.
